Our kitchen

Kelly at Kelly's Korner is having a "Kitchen Tours" party! How fun. I thought it'd be fun to participate.

Welcome to my kitchen. We live in Austin, Texas.

New artwork for the house

I've been doing a few projects around the house. I'm inspired by a few girls' blogs I read. Sometimes it's nice to make your own things. Adds character.

I found the birds I liked, printed them out. Cut them out and gently glued them onto an existing frame I had. I also had the grosgrain ribbon.

The next project I did cost me about 1/2 of a cent. The ornament to the right of the pig is from an old front door light fixture we replaced. Its the top of it. I was going to throw it away but saw potential. I spray painted it white and tied a ribbon around it. I think what I'll really use it for is a picture hanger. It has 2 holes at the base already.

Bargains

Over at Kelly's Korner, she doing a post on bargains. My favorite word! I usually shop at Target, Ross, Old Navy and Gap. I always get great deals. Stop by and see Kelly.

Old Navy necklace. I got this half off of $2.99.

Target: $8.99

Target: Barrettes or dress up a shirt or purse. $6.99

I usually don't buy shoes. I have had these for almost 4 years. They go with everything. I paid $35 for these at DSW.

Bubble dress at Ross: $19.99

Target: $24

Another black dress at Ross: I got this for 1/2 price because it had a small hole. $10

And this is my Easter dress from Ross: $19

I have bought these over the past 4 months.

New bathroom

While browsing the internet last week I stumbled upon Nesting Place. What a lovely, refreshing site. I have redone my bathroom about 2 times. Never happy with it. Always seemed cold. White cabinets, very light green walls. Just not my style. I wanted to be wrapped in warmth. I kept the colors masculine so my husband can enjoy the bathroom too. He likes it! Yippee!

PS: I already had the paint.

In the process. Pumpernickel cabinets. New hardware makes SUCH a difference.

Someone decided to put these HORRIFIC 80's lighthouse and boat themed tiles in the middle of the tub. I couldn't stand it any longer. I painted over them. I think I'm gonna need to seal these. Total difference for now.

Shopped the house for this Atlas jar. I love these and collect these.

Bought these pictures at Garden Ridge. Buy one get other 1/2 off. Toasted Almond on the walls.

I'll put the toilet paper under my new....................

..............darling curtain under the sink. No-Sew fabric glue and a dowel rod.

So there you have it. Our new relaxing bathroom. I added a lamp to the counter top to give it a soft glow. I love lamps!

Thank you for your inspiration!

Project Red Desk

I was searching Craigslist one Saturday morning and someone had this desk for free. It was near our house and the chances of it still being there were great. It was off the beaten path but
I knew the path!

It has 4 coats of paint on it. Green, white, blue then this lovely shade of red. NOT! It's gonna be alot of hard work, but I love this kind of hard work.

I'll be sure to repost the finished product.

Are you a junker? What projects do you have lined up?

A couple of finds that have me "thinkin' out of the box".

Last night while cruising da internets I found this little website. Go ahead, check it out. I was on there for a good half an hour. Need to get rid of those boring calling cards?

I messed around with this designer. If you've never been here, then go.

Then lo and behold I discovered this dude. He's my new love. His work is amazing. PS: You can also add his designs to your business cards through moo.com. Just browse designers.

Have fun!

Dumpster Diving

In the morning, one of us usually makes the trek to the trashcan. As I was walking back towards the door I spied a bag of goodies on my neighbor's curb. I made a mad dash across the street to search the bag. I found seven great items to save for Abbey when she's about 5. One really nice pair of gap pants, 3 Old Navy denim skirts, 1 denim dress and and really cute top. I'll wash them and put them away until then. Will I even remember I have them? Oh and there was an awesome coffee table. Sorta vintage looking. I think I'll call a friend to rescue the poor thing.
